Job Introduction
BBC Studio's Documentary Unit produces more than 100 Current Affairs and Arts projects for the BBC's hugely successful primetime series 'The One Show' which remains the most watched factual magazine programme on UK TV. This is an expression of interest for an experienced Producer / Director to join the team.

Main Responsibilities
1. Devise, produce and direct original, innovative and entertaining film ideas with a roster of high-profile on-screen reporters. Work closely with our Series Editor to deliver this content on time and on budget.
2. Oversee the work of other team members including story generation and the production process, from scripting through to editing and delivery.
3. Ensure content is balanced and objective, demonstrating editorial rigour and a thorough understanding of the BBC's Editorial guidelines.
4. Understand the target audience and the tone and style of The One Show.
5. Monitor budgets effectively using knowledge of internal and external market costs of production resources to create cost-effective programming.
6. Plan and organise ahead to establish an efficient course of action for self and others, communicating effectively both orally and in writing while building and developing effective working relationships.
7. Lead and motivate production teams, crews, and contributors, ensuring their views are considered and gaining cooperation through tact and diplomacy.
8. Liaise with on-air presenters to develop and enhance presentation. Assist in identifying and developing new talent, promoting diversity in content and output.
Are you the right candidate?
* You will be an experienced television producer/director with particular experience of producing short films for network television.
* You will have experience of self-shooting as well as managing small teams and their output.
* You will also have experience of dealing with Commissioners on a regular basis.
* You will have strong editorial judgement and the ability to effectively manage relationships with senior editorial figures.
