Due to our continued and exciting growth, we are looking to recruit a Saw Shop Operator to join our workforce across the BSW Timber site in Dalbeattie. Some responsibilities of a saw shop operator may include: Working within the Engineering Department for a Saw Doctor and under the leadership of the production manager you will learn how to service and maintain the sawmill cutting edges, to a high-quality specification, and to the approved schedule. Once trained, you will be responsible for:
* Repairing a wide range of sawmill saws.
* Replacing saw blades.
* Sharpening, straightening, and stretching saw blades.
* Following the scheduled tool change and maintenance schedules.
* Working alongside engineering & operation teams to resolve cutting issues related to tooling.
* Upholding the appropriate Health & Safety practices across the site.
Ideally, we're seeking a self-motivated individual with a can-do attitude. You will be keen to learn and develop through a programme of on job training whilst studying towards a recognised industry qualification to become a fully trained Saw Doctor.
In addition, you will have:
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
* An appreciation of quality and Health & Safety.
* Willingness to undertake all relevant training required to fulfil the role.
* Experience within a manufacturing, or similar production environment, would be advantageous but not essential as full training will be given.
