Job Advert Role Description
We are seeking a full-time Male PICU - Consultant Psychiatrist who will work alongside a dedicated Speciality Doctor to care for up to 10 patients.
Requirements:
1. Previous Consultancy experience is desirable but not essential.
2. You will fulfil the role of Responsible/Approved Clinician to patients and have experience of working in inpatient settings with people with significant mental health difficulties.
3. Valid GMC registration.
4. Evidence of post-registration continuing professional development.
5. A positive attitude and commitment to change, improvement, and quality.
6. Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
7. Excellent knowledge of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice.
8. The post-holder will participate in an on-call rota (pro rata).
Your role will include:
1. RC responsibility for all patients.
2. Safe prescribing and monitoring of physical health.
3. Comprehensive assessments and treatment planning with patients, external stakeholders, and carers.
4. Management of patients on the ward including physical health, mental state, and risk management and formulation.
5. Adhering to organisational admission and discharge policy and procedures.
6. Timely discharge GP notifications and discharge summaries.
7. Preparation of Mental Health Act tribunal reports.
8. Must have proficient IT skills as prompt entry onto the electronic care record is essential.
9. Engagement with external professionals and families/carers.
10. Participation in audit, research, quality and performance management, and other clinical and professional activities.
