Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Financial Controller to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial operations for the Company, ensuring accurate reporting, maintaining financial compliance, and supporting strategic decision-making. This role requires strong expertise in Xero, R&D tax claims, International Trading, and Inter-company transactions.
You will play a key role in managing the financial health of our business, optimising processes and providing financial insights to support the company’s growth and success.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Reporting & Analysis:
o Manage day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance;
o Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements;
o Oversee financial reporting using Xero, ensuring the integrity of financial data;
o Conduct variance analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
2. R&D Claims:
o Prepare and manage R&D tax credit claims, ensuring compliance with regulations and maximizing benefits;
o Liaise with external tax advisors and auditors to ensure the accuracy of claims.
3. International & Inter-Company Trading:
o Manage financial aspects of international trade, including currency conversions, international tax regulations, and compliance;
o Handle inter-company trading, including transfer pricing, reconciliations, and intra-group transactions;
o Ensure compliance with international trade laws and regulations, minimizing risks related to cross-border transactions.
4. Compliance & Control:
o Implement and maintain effective internal financial controls and procedures;
o Ensure adherence to local, national, and international tax laws and regulations;
o Support annual audits and liaise with external auditors as needed.
5. Cash Flow & Treasury Management:
o Monitor cash flow, ensure liquidity, and manage working capital requirements;
o Assist in the development and management of company budgets and long-term financial plans.
6. Team Leadership:
o Oversee and guide the finance team, ensuring accurate processing of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and other financial operations;
o Provide mentorship and training to junior staff as required.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) essential;
* A minimum of 5 years proven experience as a Financial Controller in a similar role;
* Advanced proficiency in Xero accounting software and Excel;
* Strong experience with R&D tax claims and knowledge of relevant regulations;
* Demonstrated expertise in International Trading and managing cross-border transactions;
* Experience with inter-company trading and related financial complexities;
* Strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements;
* Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail;
* Strong communication and leadership abilities;
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines;
* Candidates should be based locally to Norwich or within an hour's commute.
