The Planning Service contains three Teams: Planning Policy; Strategic Development Management & Placemaking; and Non-Strategic Development Management & Enforcement. Together, we play a key role in delivering and managing the growth of the city through the following work:
* Putting in place a plan-led policy framework - preparing plans and guidance;
* Delivering new developments through a master planning and placemaking approach;
* Providing an efficient development management service - effectively processing the highest number of planning applications in Wales;
* Continually working to improve performance and efficiency.

About the job
Placement students will gain experience across a variety of functions undertaken by the planning service; including land use monitoring, site planning/masterplanning, development activity tracking, 3D modelling (Sketchup), enforcement, handling planning applications, input into strategic site work, LDP review work and conservation area monitoring.

What we are looking for from you
We are looking for two talented, enthusiastic and highly motivated student planners (you must be enrolled on an RTPI accredited degree course) to help us achieve our vision of 'assisting the planned growth of the city and creating integrated, sustainable neighbourhoods that can be lived through excellence in Placemaking, Planning Policy and Development Control, conserving and enhancing the built and natural environment'.
Successful candidates will have a good awareness of current planning issues and current best practice, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to manage a diverse workload.
These positions will provide exciting opportunities to help shape the future of a dynamic capital city, and valuable and diverse experience across teams in development control casework, policy preparation/monitoring and space creation.
