Overview of the role
To provide leadership on the supervision and direction of Planning Officers and support staff and functional leadership on the development.
Summary of Responsibilities and Duties
* Team Leadership and Operational Management: Provide day-to-day leadership, ensure compliance and performance standards, conduct appraisals, manage team targets, and address performance issues in line with policies.
* Planning Application and Case Management: Determine planning applications, act as case officer, handle related appeals and enforcement actions, and prepare reports, including Committee presentations and legal inquiries.
* Stakeholder Engagement and Advisory Role: Establish effective relationships with stakeholders, provide guidance to staff, advise senior officers and Members on strategic and operational matters, and respond to planning-related media or security concerns.
* Strategic and Developmental Contributions: Produce development briefs and planning documents, contribute to Service objectives, and deputies for the Development Management Manager at meetings and events as needed.
