Kameo Recruitment is sourcing for a commercially focused and sales driven General Manager to join a small and successful business based north of Cambridge. The ideal candidate will have the expertise and determination to manage the day-to-day business operations and drive improvements whilst providing direction and support across the company's key functions which include scientific/technical sales, marketing, customer support, finance, HR and logistics.
Teamwork is key to the success of this company and therefore my client is looking for a General Manager who understands the importance of leading a highly motivated team that is focused on driving for results.
Duties & Responsibilities of the General Manager:
1. Be responsible for overall profitability and growth of the company as well as acting as support and an escalation point for all colleagues when required.
2. Provide leadership, mentoring, and support for all colleagues.
3. Liaise with and manage external partners (Finance Director, accountants, HR & IT support)
4. Manage the annual budgeting and forecasting process with regular checks on progress.
5. Provide commercial knowledge and support across the business which includes customer contracts, negotiations, tender submissions and supplier relationships.
6. Work in close partnership with the Sales Director and manage the operational performance of the Sales team.
7. Gain an understanding of basic technical aspects of the product as well as uses and the markets they are involved in.
8. Work with the finance team to optimise profitability, review management accounts, manage payroll as well as monitor and optimise foreign exchange rate management.
9. Act as an ambassador for the company when attending events.
Requirements for this role of General Manager:
1. Proven sales background at a senior level with experience ideally working as a General Manager or similar executive role in a small business.
2. Strong strategic focus and the ability to drive business growth.
3. Outstanding organisational, leadership and communication skills.
4. A strong understanding of sales and marketing processes is essential.
5. Sound knowledge of business processes and functions (finance, procurement, operations, etc).
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
7. Comfortable with interpreting financial reports.
Salary: Competitive salary and profit-based incentive scheme. Total package Circa £90k.
