Revenues Assistants

Working Pattern: Permanent - 36 Hours per week, Temporary - 30 Hours per week
We are looking for 2 Revenues Assistants to join the Revenues Team.
Post 1 (36 hours per week – Monday to Friday)
This post is based in the Income Recovery & Housing Benefit Overpayments Team, focusing on the Billing, Collection, and Recovery of Sundry Debt and Housing Benefit Overpayments in Fife.
Post 2 (30 hours per week 9.00am – 3.00pm Monday to Friday)
Based in the Council Tax Team, you will be responsible for the billing of Council Tax & collection of Council Tax & Rent.
Both posts are customer service based. Communication skills are essential, as is the ability to interpret information and focus on the needs of your customer. You will be required to resolve customer enquiries, both routine and complex, in accordance with legislation, regulations, and guidelines. Experience in a financial setting with a focus on debt recovery & negotiation skills is essential.
Key tasks include:
* Monitoring payments and managing your own caseload of debts.
* Dealing with customer enquiries.
* Analysing financial information and applying it to the customer account.
* Taking responsibility for the accuracy of your own workload, ensuring it is processed within set timescales and actions taken are in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations, and guidelines.
* Liaising and communicating with other Council services, customers, and external partners.
* Understanding, interpreting, and applying guidelines and regulations where applicable.
* Financial reconciliations of payments, investigating, and resolving queries.
* Participating and assisting in the delivery of projects related to service improvements.
The Person
You will be required to:
* Take a proactive approach to managing your own workload and comply with legislation, procedures & guidance whilst carrying out collection and recovery processes.
* Have experience in a financial/customer service background, negotiating and agreeing payment plans with customers.
* Demonstrate a high level of customer care and communication skills with the ability to respond sensitively to people with a variety of needs.
* Be able to manage multiple demands and be responsible for the accuracy of your own workload.
* Display a flexible attitude to work and change with a positive, pro-active approach.
* Have the ability to use multiple IT systems, including Office 365 and have excellent administrative skills.
* Be educated to SCQF level 5 which includes National 5 or SVQ level 2 or Standard Grades at Credit level.
