Finance Officer
Achieving for Children’s (AfC) Business Services Directorate provides a suite of valued support services that are tailored to the needs of a successful children's services organisation. The finance team sits within the Business Services Directorate, providing the company with the financial information, support and expertise it needs.
The Finance Officer is responsible for providing financial support to the Finance Team. There will be a focus on services that are funded by the Dedicated Schools Grant (DSG) but also supporting the management accountants in other areas including Children’s Social Care. Within Schools Finance, the role includes supporting colleagues in maintaining mechanisms for calculating and distributing funding to schools including money received by schools for Individual Schools Budgets and High Needs funding.
About the role
The Finance Officer is responsible for providing financial support to the Finance Team. There will be a focus on services that are funded by the Dedicated Schools Grant (DSG) but also supporting the management accountants in other areas including Children’s Social Care.
1. Supporting colleagues in maintaining mechanisms for calculating and distributing funding to schools
2. Support to schools on all aspects of financial management including training, advice and guidance
3. Preparing the weekly payment run for social care
4. Processing and reconciliation of invoices
About you
Experience of finance or schools finance administration is desirable but applications from candidates with other administration experience is also encouraged. Skills and experience to include but are not limited to:
5. Experience of working within a busy finance team and managing a mixed workload of regular, monthly and annual tasks
6. Experience of maintaining effective partnership working arrangements with key partners and stakeholders, including schools.
7. Ability to use a range of ICT and digital solutions and software programmes to support your work effectively i.e. microsoft or Google software
8. Good communication and interpersonal skills
