To lead and manage all aspects of nursing within the designated Paediatric Emergency Department. To demonstrate clinical expertise in nursing practice, working alongside the team and leading/attending complex paediatric emergencies To manage and co-ordinate the clinical area on a regular basis, participating indirect patient care and supervision of junior staff. To maintain a clinical knowledge base and practice advanced paediatricemergency nursing care skills. To supervise others in the delivery of these skills. To be aware of clinical developments and ensure that the multi-disciplinary team are kept informed/updated. To ensure communication with children and families is established, ensuring empathy and reassurance regarding, assessment, care and treatment. To ensure accurate and comprehensive nursing records are maintained using appropriate documentation (electronic and/or written form). To ensure safe signposting and/or referral to other services from the Paediatric Emergency Department. To promote safe and effective discharge, making appropriate arrangements forpatients leaving the department, making referrals, and providing information to community services, as required. To establish effective working relations with all members of the multidisciplinary team to promote good communication and a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care. To behave in a manner that is professional, positive, and polite.
