R&D Technical Lead Job Description
This role is crucial for a computing systems provider specializing in space satellites and telecommunications based in the UK.
The position commences as a hands-on engineering role, progressing to a Lead Engineer position where you will build a technical team around you.
Key Responsibilities:
* Product Development Lifecycle Management: Ensure adherence to project timelines from inception to production.
* Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Promote innovation within the engineering teams, encouraging the adoption of new technologies and methodologies.
* Engineering Strategies and Best Practices: Develop and implement strategies to enhance efficiency, quality, and performance.
* R&D Team Leadership: Direct a multidisciplinary R&D team developing digital telecom payloads and embedded systems for satellite applications.
Requirements:
* Leadership Experience: Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams developing embedded systems, particularly for space applications.
* Cellular Network Knowledge: Knowledge and experience in developing cellular networks.
* System Architecture Expertise: Experience in leading the system architecture stage of a project.
* Embedded Telecom Systems Design: Experience in the design and implementation of embedded telecom systems.
* Digital Communication Principles: Strong knowledge of digital communication principles and satellite communication protocols.
* RF Frontend Design and Modulation Techniques: Familiarity with antenna systems, RF frontend design, and modulation techniques.
* Interdisciplinary Understanding: Good understanding of the interactions between electronics, firmware, and software aspects in creating accurate system architecture.
* Real-Time Operating Systems and FPGA Programming: Experience with real-time operating systems, software-defined radios, and FPGA programming.
Compensation Package:
* Salary**: Circa £120,000+ dependent on experience and skillset.
* Pension Contributions: Matching pension contributions up to a maximum of 5% per month.
* Holiday Entitlement: 34 days (including bank holidays).
* Working Hours: 9.00am to 5.30pm on Mondays to Fridays.
