To strengthen our team in Puratos Fourayes, near Sittingbourne, Kent, we are looking for a:
Your Mission
Reporting to the Warehouse & Logistics Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the prompt receipt and supply of legal and food-safe materials and products to both internal and external customers. They should lead the logistics team by example, with a hands-on approach supported by a great work ethic. During apple harvest season, the controller will oversee the movement of freshly harvested apples from the farm to the factory and our state-of-the-art apple storage facilities.
What you will do
* Ensure that all activities within the service yard and storage areas are carried out to meet strict HSE standards and quality system requirements.
* Direct and coordinate the Logistics activity to ensure that customer requirements are met on time, in full and to budgeted costs.
* Ensure the department is focused on supplying production with relevant raw materials and that deliveries are prepared, booked off and loaded on time and palletised efficiently.
* Manage the Harvest process each year and ongoing quality and supply of apple deliveries and call-offs.
* Ensure that all stock is effectively picked so that the shortest expiry dates are used first.
* Ensure that the department liaises with the Technical department to confirm QC checks have been conducted and therefore products are compliant for release/delivery.
* Organise and conduct stock checking activities in liaison with the Finance department.
* Adhere to correct Factory Master processes regarding the booking in and out of goods, returns and disposed/expired materials.
* Ensure that external housekeeping standards are embedded into the Logistics Team and maintained at all times.
* Ensure that critical KPI’s covering supplier OTIF, Customer OTIF, pallet utilisation, stock accuracy and stock disposal, waste reviewed, reported and displayed daily.
* Manage and meet agreed Logistics budgets.
The ideal candidate will have:
* Apple quality and grower knowledge
* Harvest and apple store experience
* FLT Licence
* Ability to engage, motivate and develop colleagues
* Leading by example with a great work ethic
* High concern for standards and impact
* HGV1 & HGV2 licences in order to cover the site driver
* Experience of transport Statutory reporting
What you can expect from Puratos
* Rate of pay: £16.00 – 17.99 per hour depending on experience, qualifications and suitability.
* Working pattern: Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week. Core hours are 06:30 – 14:30; the Logistics & Harvest Controller can expect to work considerably more during the harvest period.
