What You’ll Do: As Senior Legal Counsel, you'll take the lead in negotiating complex commercial contracts, including launch agreements, constellation deals, and other space-related services. You'll work closely with our engineering teams and sales professionals to support the delivery of Spire’s innovative products to customers worldwide. Your role will involve advising on a broad range of legal and commercial matters, developing policies and templates, and mentoring junior attorneys. By diving deep into our business, from radio occultation to reseller rights, you'll play a critical role in driving strategic initiatives in a fast-growing, cutting-edge industry. Lead the negotiation of commercial contracts with space-related aspects such as launch agreements, constellation agreements, and other "space services" type deals Negotiate inbound and outbound commercial agreements with vendors, customers, channel partners, strategic partners, and other business parties Advise, provide guidance, and develop templates, policies, and processes on a broad range of commercial and general legal matters Mentor junior attorneys on the team. Who You Are: You are a dynamic legal strategist with deep expertise in commercial transactions, especially in the space and satellite industries. You excel at negotiating complex agreements, from launch contracts to SaaS and data licensing, ensuring optimal outcomes for the organization. With a sharp legal mind and a collaborative spirit, you’re skilled at mentoring junior attorneys and working seamlessly across global teams and time zones. You thrive in fast-paced environments, balancing meticulous attention to detail with a clear focus on overarching business goals. Law Degree or equivalent. Extensive commercial transactions experience from a combination of law firm and in-house experience. Experience with space, satellite, or related technical commercial agreements (hosted payloads, ground stations, launch, manufacture, etc.). In-house experience at a start-up or scale-up is a bonus. Knowledge of commercial technology contracts such as SaaS, data, or software agreements. Familiarity with adjacent areas of law, such as compliance, corporate finance, IP, and international tax law. Ability to work fluidly across time zones and business cultures with international colleagues, customers, and vendors. Insatiable appetite to learn, adapt, and grow. Obsessive attention to detail while keeping sight of the big picture. Able to communicate with and influence a wide range of internal stakeholders and external decision makers. Spire operates a hybrid work model, and this position will require you to work a minimum of three days per week in office.
