Job Role: Automation Operations Manager
Salary: Up to £85,000 plus a £5,460 car allowance.

Overview of Automation Operations Manager
As the Automation Operations Manager, you will be responsible for leading two key departments: Electrical Engineering and Automation Software. This role is 80% operations and management-focused, requiring strategic leadership across both areas, while still maintaining a technical understanding of the systems. You'll guide a team of 10 direct reports, including technical managers, lead engineers, and senior engineers. This position is not hands-on but requires technical insight to understand and address complex issues while driving performance and alignment across the departments. The Automation Operations Manager will also oversee recruitment, training, and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring the business adapts to ongoing changes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership: Set and drive strategic objectives, aligning your teams with the overall business goals and ensuring seamless operations.
2. Operational Excellence: Oversee the day-to-day running of the electrical and automation teams, managing resource allocation, project timelines, and quality deliverables.
3. Team Development: Lead recruitment, training, and development initiatives for your departments, ensuring your teams are equipped to meet industry demands.
4. Continuous Improvement: Spearhead continuous improvement efforts, championing innovation in engineering processes to drive efficiency and quality.
5. Budget Management: Full budgetary control across both departments, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within financial scope.
Qualifications & Experience:
1. Proven experience in a leadership role, ideally as an Automation Operations Manager, with a background in both automation and electrical engineering.
2. A strong technical foundation in control systems, electrical engineering, or automation software (Siemens experience beneficial).
3. Experience in industries such as brewing, pharmaceuticals, food, or FMCG is highly desirable.
4. A strategic thinker who can align technical operations with wider business objectives.
5. Strong project delivery experience is essential.
