Job summary
Reporting to the Managing Director, as the Category Management Service Provider (CMSP) Director this role will lead the delivery of NOE CPC's contract in support of NHS Supply Chain (NHS SC).
The successful candidate will be responsible for the leadership of all people and functions (virtually and through line management) of all NOE CPC's activity in support of this contract. The role includes accountability for contractual, financial and operational performance of the contract in the Facilities and Office Solutions Category.
The successful candidate will act as a key and credible business leader, and as a procurement and commercial figurehead, providing strategic, commercial and operational direction. The role will enable a commercially focused, dynamic service, to deliver innovative procurement and commercial solutions, whilst achieving significant and sustainable improvements for the NHS.
Main duties of the job
The successful Category Management Service Provider Director is responsible for;
1. Strategic Vision: The CMSP Director sets the strategic vision for category management within Facilities and Office Solutions, aligning it with the broader goals of the NHS.
2. Collaboration: Working closely with NHS Supply Chain's central team, the director collaborates with internal stakeholders and external partners (suppliers and other organisations) to achieve excellence.
3. Innovation: The CMSP Director drives innovation, exploring new ways to source products sustainably, reduce waste whilst enhancing patient care.
4. Expertise: The CMSP Director brings deep expertise in their category responsible for everything from office furniture to janitorial supplies.
5. Value Delivery: The CMSP Director ensures that the NHS gets the best value for money, negotiating contracts, monitoring performance and keeping costs streamlined.
About us
North of England Commercial Procurement Collaborative (NOE CPC) was established in 2007 and is wholly owned by the NHS. NOE CPC provides collaborative and bespoke procurement solutions to the NHS and other public sector organisations.
An impressive opportunity has arisen due to an internal move; NOE CPC are looking to identify a Category Management Service Provider Director (CMSP) to join a high performing team.
The CMSP function was set up in 2018 to provide category management services to NHS Supply Chain. From standing start it has grown to over 40 dedicated team members with expertise in a wide range of disciplines. The newly appointed CMSP Director will oversee 14 Category areas, influencing c.£190m of annual spend through an extremely talented team. The team is very well established, with the contract recently renewed in July 2023.
The CMSP Director will lead a team who have delivered an outstanding job over the first five-year contract period. This set the foundations for a successful re-tender resulting in expansion of our team and a further contract for four (plus two) years starting in July 2023.

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
* MCIPS or MBA/Master's Degree or equivalent level of significant specialist experience.
Essential Experience
* Extensive business experience in Public or Private Sector procurement at a senior level.
Essential Skills
* Experience of communicating in controversial and challenging situations with an ability to manage complex relationships whilst showing resilience.
