West Mercia Youth Justice Service, in partnership with Severn Arts, is seeking a visual artist to co-create indoor and outdoor wall artworks with young people at the Tolladine Road Youth Justice Centre, Worcester. This project aims to transform the space into a welcoming and inspiring environment that gives ownership to the young people who use it.
The Brief
The commissioned artist will collaborate with young people to design and produce two artworks that reflect their ideas and creativity. The selected artist will be responsible for facilitating engaging co-creation workshops with the young people and transforming the indoor and outdoor walls using weatherproof and durable materials, ensuring the artworks are sustainable and low maintenance. The aim is to create a vibrant, rehabilitative environment that the young people can feel proud of. The total fee for the commission is £5,000, inclusive of workshops, materials, and installation.

Please note that the shortlisting and interview process will be led by the young people involved in this project, and they have requested that applications are made in video form. Your proposal should include:
* A little about you and any relevant experience of delivering similar projects
* A selection of images or a link to a website or social media account where we can see examples of previous work
* Some initial ideas or concepts
* Your approach to inclusively engaging with young people
* Your proposed timetable for delivering the project
* Materials you might use
* A brief breakdown of how you intend to spend the budget
* Confirmation that you will be prepared to complete a method statement and risk assessment before starting work
* Contact details of at least one referee that will be taken up for successful artist
We welcome applications from individual artists, arts organisations, and collectives.

We will be holding an Open Day for artists to see the space, meet with stakeholders and participants, and find out more about the commission on Friday 21 February, 2pm - 3pm. If you cannot make this session, we will be holding an online session on Friday 21 February, 11am – 12 pm, to answer any questions you may have.
