Head of HR Contract Duration: 3-6 months Organisation: Oldham Council Pay Rate: Negotiable Oldham Council are seeking a Head of HR to lead on the development and implementation of workforce-related policies, processes, and practices. This role is crucial for shaping best practices and informing workforce planning, retention, and management, ensuring a positive employment offer. Day-to-day of the role: Collaborate with the Assistant Director of HR&OD and the Head of OD to develop a Workforce Strategy and People plan aligned with the Corporate Plan and the Oldham Plan. Review the current capacity and alignment of HR&OD resources and priorities to ensure the service contributes effectively to the workforce change agenda. Lead the development of an HR Employment Contact Centre to ensure high performance and customer-focused processes for recruitment, on-boarding, payroll, pensions, and HR systems. Partner with the Head of OD to develop a new performance framework that supports a restorative approach to discipline, grievance, and performance management practices. Lead the development of people analytics and workforce metrics to support the organisation in its future planning and transformation plans. Required Skills & Qualifications: Proven experience in HR leadership, preferably within a public sector or council environment. Strong ability to develop and implement HR strategies and policies. Experience managing HR functions such as resourcing, payroll, pensions, HR systems, and workforce information. Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage and direct a diverse HR team. Strong analytical skills with experience in people analytics and workforce metrics. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
