Help lead our Asset Programme and Policy team
Location: Exeter (with flexible work-from-home options)
Are you a strategic thinker who is passionate about making a difference across Devon? We are looking for a Senior Highway Asset Officer to join and help in the ongoing development of Asset management principles, championing and promoting their use. We are looking for a keen, driven applicant who possesses sound communication skills and organisational competencies, as well as an ability to demonstrate or further develop leadership skills as part of an evolving Asset management team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Team Leader: Provide strategic direction and support to locally based asset officers with direct line management of four employees.
2. Collaboration: Engage with internal and external teams to promote and demonstrate asset management strategies and principles.
3. Development of Forward Programmes: Use asset data to identify and promote highway maintenance forward programmes both locally and countywide.
4. Budget Management: Take financial management and reporting responsibility for centrally managed maintenance programmes.
5. System Development and Governance: Promote, develop and maintain asset data systems ensuring that data quality promotes evidence-based decision making.
6. Policy Development: Review and develop asset policies and procedures
You’ll be part of a wider asset team with responsibility for the ongoing management and maintenance of Devon’s highway assets. Based in Exeter, you will be working with a small, supportive team of highways colleagues covering Exeter, East and Northern areas as well as Countywide programmes. You will be working with colleagues from across the County Council, and establishing collaborative working relationships is essential.
