Job Description:
Overall Purpose:
* To provide technical knowledge, specialist expertise, and advice to functions, programmes, and project teams on matters relating to Business Continuity.
* Act as a Business Continuity Adviser, championing and sharing best practices across UKAEA, embedding and promoting business continuity within programmes and projects through enhanced resilience capabilities, awareness, and understanding.
* Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on diverse and wide-ranging projects.
* Advocate for business resilience investment and prioritization in programmes and projects.
Accountabilities:
* Assess the impact of the HMG functional security standard 007, HM Government standards, and other related business continuity requirements on UKAEA's programmes, projects, and infrastructure, ensuring documentation, processes, and procedures reflect these requirements.
* Identify emerging risks and threats related to business continuity, monitor changes, develop and implement mitigations, and advise accordingly. Support risk registers and liaise with risk owners.
* Review, exercise, and test business continuity arrangements to ensure programme and project preparedness, collaborating with the Business Resilience Manager and business units.
* Coordinate with IT services regarding information technology and operational technology service continuity.
* Engage with the Business Continuity community through forums, working groups, etc.
Qualifications/Experience:
* Degree in a business resilience discipline (e.g., business continuity, emergency planning, security risk management) preferred; relevant work experience in law enforcement, military, or critical national infrastructure also acceptable.
* Proven experience in a business continuity role, ideally in a technical or scientific setting.
* Experience in the civil nuclear industry or critical national infrastructure is desirable, with a balance of business acumen and technical knowledge.
* Knowledge of business continuity standards and requirements.
* Ability to obtain or hold an SC security clearance (conditional on achieving SC clearance).
* Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Effective interpersonal skills for working across various roles and levels of responsibility.
