In the Norfolk Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Team we are offering the opportunity for four individuals to work alongside our specialist group of practitioners. We are looking for trained Best Interest Assessors, or alternatively for individuals interested in gaining this sought after qualification, along with a permanent full time role at the end. If you already hold a Best Interest Assessor qualification, or are a Level 2 Social Worker, Qualified Nurse, Occupational Therapist or a Psychologist with at least two years experience, this could be the perfect opening for you. Successful applicants will need to be available for a training programme, dates of this to be confirmed. Note this is not applicable for those already trained. We are a small friendly team, and we cover the whole County of Norfolk. We assess individuals who are extremely vulnerable, who are being deprived of their liberty in care homes, acute and community hospitals, private hospitals and mental health units. We also provide support and guidance to our colleagues in the local community teams. The Best Interest Assessor role also involves working closely with our Mental Health Assessors, Advocacy and Legal Services along with the wider Multi-Disciplinary team. You will need to be a professionally curious and reflective practitioner, with a good working knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and a keen interest in Mental Health. You will also need to be flexible, and adaptable as the role does require you to manage complex situations. You will need to complete clear and detailed assessments within a legal framework and timescales. You should have good organisational and IT skills. In your new role, we will provide you with shadowing opportunities, reflective supervision with an experienced best interest assessor, flexible working hours, and ability to gain further experience and skills around completing both remote and face to face assessments. We offer regular in house training and time to meet with your colleagues from across the County to share ideas and knowledge.
