A Research Associate (JustGESI) is required within the Centre for Sustainable Transitions: Energy, Environment and Resilience (STEER), part of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities, Loughborough University.
STEER is searching for a Researcher with a strong commitment to energy justice to join an international, interdisciplinary research team committed to working at the interface between energy, gender, and social inclusion. The successful candidate will join the project Mainstreaming Gender Equality and Social Inclusion for a Just Energy Transition in Ethiopia, Malawi, Mozambique, and Tanzania (JustGESI), funded by the Ayrton Fund of UK Research and Innovation from 2025-2027.
You will be tasked with driving forward the JustGESI research agenda, working with diverse academic and policy institutions in the countries of study, with a specific (although not exclusive) focus on a Loughborough-led work package focusing on reducing gender-based inequalities in the newly emerging electric cooking sector through a combination of country-level analysis and action research.
We are looking for a candidate willing to navigate an interdisciplinary research landscape, actively engaging with critical social science while being open to dialogue with engineering disciplines. In particular, we seek a candidate who will actively commit to delivering impactful research to change current ideas on gender and energy.
Join us and be part of our vibrant research community at Loughborough University.
Informal enquiries should be directed to Prof. Ed Brown (JustGESI Principal Investigator) via email to e.d.brown@lboro.ac.uk
