Your new role
The role of Senior Engineer for Product Certification covers the following areas:
5. Boiler and pressure vessels
6. EU product directives
7. UK Regulatory Compliance
8. Global Certification Schemes
9. Carriage of dangerous goods
10. Mechanical, electrical and function safety certification
The Senior Engineer is an important element of the Product Certification team, and is responsible to the Operations and Technical Manager for any decisions relating to technical matters. The Senior Engineer has day to day operational responsibility to the Operations Manager for control and coordination relating to inspection, welding certification and product certification services for the accredited scope of activities.
Typical duties include:
11. Effective utilisation, control and direction of technical staff.
12. Recruitment Identification.
13. Formulating, developing and participating in technical training programmes.
14. Compiling and implementing general procedure work instructions and documentation.
15. Reviewing procedures.
16. Carry out literature surveys to facilitate the updating of the technical library.
17. Assessing enquiries and orders.
18. Reviewing manufacturing procedures and quality plans.
19. Compiling specific work instructions, procedures and documentation.
20. Liaising with clients, manufacturers and Inspectors.
21. Providing advisory services.
22. Directing and controlling sub-contractors.
23. Producing concession documentation.
24. Reviewing reports and preparing final reports/certification.
25. Carry out design reviews/inspections/audits where necessary.
26. Participating in internal and external quality assurance activities.
27. Resolving non-compliance on specific objects.
28. Maintenance of Verification records.
29. Attend Conformity Assessment Body Forum meetings.
30. Participate in SAFed Technical Committee or ad-hoc meetings.
31. Deputise, within discipline, for the Technical Manager.
32. Deputise, within discipline, for the Operations Manager (Oldbury).
33. The minimum competency level in accordance with Safed SS 01 required is category 2.
Qualifications
How to be a successful candidate
To be a successful candidate we are looking for a minimum 5 years of experience in in operation of inspection activities, design, manufacture, inspection, operation or maintenance of the accredited scope of activities. Have HNC (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline. You'll also need to be competent to makeprofessional judgements on the range of operational activities within scope of competence likely to arise from the accredited scope of activities including sufficient knowledge of pertinent manufacturing technology, operational issues, potential defects and failures of the items/ processes to be inspected.
