The Bakery Innovation Manager will be responsible for managing and driving the development of innovative, high-quality bakery products that delight our customers and uphold our Swiss Yorkshire heritage, with a particular skill and eye for bread and pastry products. This role emphasises driving long-term strategic innovation in alignment with our Future Picture vision. The Manager will inspire collaboration across teams, ensuring that all bakery offerings maintain the highest standards of quality, creativity and continually delight our customers. Key Responsibilities: Driving bakery development, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our bakery initiatives, to align with our overarching food and drink vision and our three-year strategic plan. You will be equally passionate about continuous improvement of our existing bakery products, as well as launching high quality innovation, to enhance customer experiences and drive sustainable growth. This role will expect you to create, test and develop products yourself and alongside a small product development team, so you must be able to be ‘hands-on’ whilst driving the bigger thinking. You will foster the capabilities of our Bakery Innovation team, unlocking their creative talents while promoting cross-functional collaboration and effective execution. Upholding the highest standards of food safety, health regulations, and allergen management will be essential to ensure top quality and operational efficiency in all development activities. Acting as a guardian of Bettys’ food and drink traditions, you will ensure that our products align with our heritage, values, and guiding principles. You will work closely with bakery operations teams not only to unlock innovative product ideas but also to efficiently plan and implement product trials and launches, engaging with them and being hands on throughout the development to launch process. Collaboration with our Commercial Team will be key to securing high-quality raw materials that meet our product excellence standards while maintaining commercial expectations. You will also review challenges and facilitate collaborative decision-making to develop swift solutions. Your responsibilities will also include streamlining product complexity and enhancing shelf life while maintaining the high standards expected by our customers. You will oversee the trial and approval of new raw materials for bakery products and partner with the bakery Engineering team to explore and evaluate new production machinery for improved efficiency and quality. NVQ or City & Guilds Diploma - Level 4 plus or equivalent. Creative and inspiring with a real passion for food and drink and who keeps up to date with food trends. Qualified in Food Safety Level 4 and a good sound understanding of food safety and health and safety. Excellent time management skills – ability to manage multiple projects at one time. Good level of general education and good numeracy skills Excellent skills with Microsoft office and are willing to use and learn other software systems. Experience of leading a team and the ability to influence effectively in the wider business. Ability and experience in managing complexity.
