Full time, 37 hours a week. Portsmouth Young People Services provides supported accommodation for up to 83 young people between the age of 16 and 25, including care leavers and looked after children. The service operates across three locations, each is tailored to the needs of the clients and offer various levels of support. Our aim is to support to young people with their individual needs to enable then to gain life skills to move on to lower or independent supported living. This is a fast paced, energetic service. If you’re looking for an exciting role, where you’ll be making a difference in the lives of those you support then this is the role for you Main Responsibilities You will support clients by prompting and helping them to attend appointments You will encourage their involvement in personal progression in the form of education, training, employment activity or volunteering. You will help them develop their practical skills in areas such as budgeting, shopping, cooking and housework, laundry, health and hygiene You will work with external partners (such as colleges) to maximise the opportunities available to clients so that they can resettle in the community. Empower clients to achieve the outcomes they identify as desirable for independent living including involvement in practical tasks within the hostel such as basic maintenance/ room decoration Involve clients in the smooth running if the hostel environment Help to maintain a welcoming, safe environment; updating and carrying out H&S checks as required, identifying and minimising all potential risks to users of the premises and the organisation and property Maintain client records using relevant systems to a good standard Work in accordance with the Health and Safety regulations and all policies and procedures Attend supervision, appraisal, training and meetings as directed which may be outside your normal working pattern Any other reasonable task as requested by a member of staff Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Essential Qualifications/Training Previous experience in this type of work is not essential but you will have a real passion for wanting to work with homeless people.
