There is currently an exciting opportunity to work on this agenda with our Director of Public Health (DPH). We are seeking to appoint a full-time Consultant in Public Health who can work creatively to help us take forward our ambitions. The postholder will work across the three domains of public health: health improvement, health protection and healthcare. They will operate at Service Director level within the Council and will be responsible for improving, promoting, and protecting the health and wellbeing of residents across Gateshead.
You will be based and managed within our Public Health Team and will work across the other elements of the Public Health and Wellbeing Group, the wider Council and the Gateshead health and care system. Working alongside your Public Health colleagues, you will lead on the improvement of health and social outcomes in Gateshead, supporting the progression and development of Gateshead’s Thrive Agenda.
You will hold a work plan with specific lead areas of responsibility whilst supporting the DPH to lead the operational management of the following areas which contribute to the health and wellbeing of people in Gateshead: Community Health and Wellbeing; Library Services; Community Safety and Emergency Planning and Resilience.
