The SMB Group is an innovative and highly responsive centre for education and training with campuses in Coalville, Melton Mowbray and Brooksby.
We are looking for an inspiring and enthusiastic Lecturer with knowledge and experience in the Motor Vehicle maintenance and repair sector, with the ability to deliver an array of engineering skills, knowledge and related behaviours in our Motor Vehicle provision. Delivery will mainly be to students on study programme courses or delivering on our apprenticeship programmes once this is developed. You may currently be working in a Motor Vehicle workshop carrying out maintenance and repair duties or within the sector as a diagnostic technician or electric vehicle expert, looking for your first job in teaching. If your skills and experience include working within the automotive sector or working with new technologies, we would like to hear from you.
Working as part of the automotive team you will be responsible for the delivery and development of courses. You will possess an excellent knowledge and understanding of automotive technology and be able to plan and use a range of effective and appropriate teaching and learning techniques. If new to teaching we will support your progression into teaching and learning.
We hope to add value to our team during this process by taking on a person with a passion to share their knowledge and experience with others. Who has worked with the sector throughout their careers, who would like to support the SMB Groups automotive provision to continually improve year on year by offering what our customers what they require, by exceeding their expectations. You will be a key contributor to our provision’s development into the electrification of vehicles and the alternative fuel agenda, which we are currently developing.
As part of the Lecturing role, there is also the opportunity for you to take on additional responsibility as a Curriculum and Quality Lead where you will take on management duties and be responsible for optimising learner success on all programmes and have a passion for teaching and curriculum quality. In addition, you will support the implementation of improvement strategies and contribute towards the development of a robust curriculum strategy.
This element is currently fixed term until 31/07/2025 and is reviewed annually. You will be given 0.4 FTE remission in order to undertake these additional duties.
The additional responsibility will come with an honorarium payment of £250 additional per month.

As well as your relevant experience and current knowledge, you will also be willing to obtain a relevant teaching qualification (DTLLS, PGCE or equivalent) if you do not already possess one.
