About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer (Water) to join a long-term infrastructure project focused on flood defence. The scheme is part of a critical national programme aimed at improving water management, safeguarding communities, and increasing climate resilience. You’ll play a key role in the successful commissioning of pumping stations, valves, pipework, instrumentation and control systems—helping ensure the safe and effective operation of water assets as part of this major flood defence scheme. Key Responsibilities: Lead and coordinate the commissioning activities for water infrastructure and flood defence systems Liaise with design, construction, and client teams to ensure a smooth transition from construction to operation Develop and implement commissioning plans and procedures Carry out testing, troubleshooting, and optimisation of water systems (pumps, pipelines, control systems, etc.) Produce technical documentation including method statements, test records, and O&M manuals Ensure compliance with health & safety and environmental regulations during commissioning Support the handover and training of operational teams Requirements: Proven experience in commissioning within the water/wastewater or flood defence sectors Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and control systems relevant to water infrastructure Familiarity with commissioning documentation and procedures Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team Excellent communication and reporting skills CSCS card and relevant health & safety qualifications (e.g., SMSTS) are desirable
