Job Purpose:Oldham Council is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Deputy Residential Homes Manager to assist in managing our residential homes, their staff, and residents. This role requires regular weekend and evening work.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with the Residential Homes Manager to provide a safe, nurturing environment for children and young people.
* Develop, implement, review, and record care plans in coordination with Field Social Workers.
* Contribute to the development of Child Care Services and professional standards.
* Maintain and establish contacts with external agencies, including schools, health services, and family members.
* Supervise and develop staff, ensuring departmental objectives are met.
* Assist in the recruitment and selection of domestic staff.
* Monitor budgets and ensure spending is within set limits.
* Promote equalities and diversity in the workplace and service delivery.
* Uphold and implement Council policies, including safeguarding and health & safety.

* Undertake continuous professional development and stay updated with relevant legislation and policies.

* Staff of Social Services, children, and their relatives and friends.
* Other agencies: Voluntary Organisations, Health Service Personnel, Education Department Personnel, Probation Service Personnel, Elected Members.

Person Specification:
Essential:
* HNC in caring services, DIP SW, CQSW, CSS, NVQ 3 in caring for Children and Young People, and NVQ Assessor qualification.
* Experience engaging with young people, including those with SEND, and contributing to the Care Planning process.
* Experience in recruiting and selecting staff.
* Ability to act as an NVQ Assessor and motivate and supervise staff.
* Knowledge of safeguarding, child development, and childcare legislation.
Desirable:
* Additional qualifications or experience relevant to the role.
Work Circumstances:
* Ability to work outside office hours, including weekends and evenings.
* Ability to travel independently across the Borough.
