An exciting opportunity within Neath Port Talbot and Singleton Service Group - we are seeking a Lead Nurse for Quality, Safety & Risk for the Division of Hospital Operations, Haematology & Oncology.
This role will work across sites with units, departments and wards at both Neath Port Talbot Hospital and Singleton Hospital, there are also services based within Morriston Hospital.
The role will work with the management team and is responsible for supporting the delivery of the patient safety and quality improvement strategy to create a patient safety culture that focuses on high quality care standards, preventing avoidable harm and avoidable death by using evidence best practice, lessons learned and data to identify incident themes, and areas for improvement.
The post holder will promote patient safety and contribute to the development of organisational learning and improvements in clinical risk and patient safety at service level and organisational level.
Main duties of the job
The role will work with the multidisciplinary team and management team and is responsible for supporting the delivery of the safety and quality strategy agenda. To create a safety culture that focuses on high quality care, preventing avoidable harm by using best practice lessons learned and data to identify incident themes and areas for improvement.
The post holder will promote patient safety and contribute to the development of the service learning and improvements in clinical risk and patient safety. This will be done by promoting a culture in which reporting of incidents and root cause analysis is routine practice and is recognised by staff as a means of improving the quality of clinical care and reducing risk.
The post holder will be responsible for supporting effective governance and risk systems across the services. They will work closely and collaboratively with the senior team, Head of Nursing, Matron and clinical Lead to ensure effective communication systems are in place and to ensure excellent standards of care and compliance with national and local standards.
To participate in the on-call rota.

The post holder will support the Divisions to discharge their responsibility to manage patient safety, using a variety of tools, and ensure comprehensive investigations are carried out and result in sustained change and improvement to patient care.

Qualifications
Essential
* Registered Nurse Level 1
* Educated to Degree level
* Improving Quality Together IQT Bronze
* Leadership development programme/study or evidence of practical application of leadership expertise at senior level
Desirable
* Educated to Masters level in relevant subject or equivalent relevant experience of working in similar specialist area
* Project management qualification or detailed knowledge
* Improving Quality Together IQT Silver / Foundations in Improvement Science (FISH) in Healthcare
