Overhead Lines Manager
Our Role
As a Overhead Lines Manager, you will be responsible for the operational and financial performance of the contract; delivering the work safely, on time, in budget and to our Client’s expectations.
We have secured a 5 year contract with UK Power Networks, providing support across their ED2 Distribution Network Programme. We will be providing services across all distribution assets, including overhead lines, underground cabling and substations on LV, 11kV, and 33kV networks. From the 1st April 2023, our teams will be working across the southwest Chilterns, Borehamwood and the Bedford/Cambridge area.
Key Responsibilities
1. Ensure all work within the contract under your control are carried out in full compliance with health, safety, welfare and environmental regulations, while working to maximize the profitability of the contract and ensuring satisfaction of contractual requirements.
2. Ensure compliance with the client’s authorisation requirements and specifications, with the company standards of service and quality systems.
3. Control documentation, working closely with the back-office support team.
4. Ensure that the health and safety competence of sub-contract organisation and direct labour are assessed prior to commencing work.
5. Assess the risk associated with our operations and ensure that the correct site-specific method statements and risk assessments are compiled in advance of works.
6. Have a keen eye on the commercials of the contract, making sure we can deliver for our clients and maintain profitability.
7. Manage all resources e.g. labour, materials and plant.
8. Take pride in our delivery, and make repeat business a measure of success.
9. Demand safety and competence, including training requirements, and push for improvement in all teams.
10. Manage and motivate a team, delegating where appropriate, but leading by example.
11. Have an ordered approach to the development of the people in your area.
Qualifications/Skills Required
1. Experience of working on an Overhead Lines, Underground Cabling and/or Substations contract previously.
2. Supervisor Street works qualification.
3. Health & Safety qualification an advantage.
4. Exceptional communication skills.
5. Good management skills.
6. Commercial awareness.
7. Clean Driving Licence.
