An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team as a Healthcare Science Assistant. We would like you to join our team and make a difference to the hospital experience for our patients and make a valuable contribution to the delivery of high standard of patient care in this evolving department. The team covers a range of in- and outpatient tests on a rotational basis, including ECGs and ambulatory heart monitors for both adult and paediatric patients.
We are developing our services in the community, and you will be required to work in various locations (approximately within a 20 mile radius) as part of the role.
The post is full time, 37.5 hours per week, although part time hours will be considered. Working hours are 9am-5pm; however, flexibility may be required with hours between 8-5 to meet current service needs. This will include occasional Saturday working.

What you’ll do
The main purpose of this role is to perform Electrocardiograms (ECGs) and to apply a range of monitors to patients in order to record information from the heart. Tests are performed in a variety of settings from routine outpatients to attendance in the emergency department. The post would involve a variety of other day to day duties including downloading the monitors on to the relevant software on the PC, liaising with a variety of both staff and patients. Checking stock levels, general admin duties, and occasional reception duties. To ensure the equipment is clean, set up and ready for the next day’s clinic.
What we’re looking for
Candidates should be energetic and forward thinking, have the ability to perform a range of cardiac monitors and electrocardiograms (with the relevant training) to the patients, both in the in- as outpatient settings. Have excellent communication skills and be self-motivated.
The ideal candidate will be able to manage their own workload, work well within a team, and be able to use their initiative. Education and development is encouraged and you would need to be prepared to attend training courses.
This position would ideally suit someone with a healthcare assistant background, or someone working with the public, but previous hospital experience is not essential as training can be provided within the department. Personal initiative and stamina are required, as the role can sometimes be demanding.
