Job Description Head of Government Relations Full Time, Hybrid (3 days office, 2 days from Home) Derby and London We are seeking an experienced and strategic thinking Head of Government Relations who can help us to achieve our ambitious five-year-plan which incorporates new business and contact in markets which are less familiar to us than our traditional customer base. This is a key leadership role for a professional adept at enhancing existing relationships and developing new ones in HMG. The role will also help us to understand evolving governmental policies and preferences and will assist in critically evaluating our opportunities for success in the key growth areas in the five-year-plan The role will also be complicit in advising on the optimum tactics for the inevitable changes in environment we are seeing in an ever-changing global landscape. The ideal candidate will bring existing contacts alongside expertise in developing relationships, deepening existing ones and will have both a tactical and strategic mindset to assist the business to achieve its strategic goals. This is a high-profile role which will involve working closely with the executive team both in RR Submarines and in the RR Group. The candidate must be comfortable at presenting the anticipated reactions and responses to our plans in a simple manner at all levels from staff through to the Group CEO. The candidate will ideally have a good knowledge of the inner workings of HMG and the Defence business, proven relationship and analytical skills, the ability to work with autonomy but also with a team of business professionals in related disciplines (eg Business Development, Strategy and Customer). What you will be doing Developing the HMG relationships with HMG as required to support the strategic campaigns Liaison, interaction and sharing with Group GR Creation and sustainment of multiple senior stakeholder relationships in DSNEZ DBT Cabinet Office HMT GCO Others as necessary Maintain an up-to-date knowledge and awareness of proposed changes in Policy and direction Knowledge of funding and investment routes and ability to Work across the RR business to engage internal stakeholders, test and develop ideas. Understand internal positioning, capability and priorities (inc. Group, SMR and wider business). Engage HMG to understand key concerns and issues, identify key points of influence and timelines. Seek input from external stakeholders. Build stakeholder map and key relationships. Identify allies and multipliers, partner orgs. Assess support requirements and external partnerships. Build timeline of reactive and proactive opportunities for engagement. Clarify and confirm key messages and messengers for different stakeholder groups. Secure agreement to plan and execute, including use of external partners. Ensure clear link to business objectives, with KPIs and risks identified. Test and evaluate response, work across the business to review key messages and iterate approach. All phases of Customer Relationship Management Ensure the business operates in line with Customer Policies.
