Experienced Senior Planner required to work with the team on a £350m new build project near Basingstoke with a national Tier 1 main contracting group.
The project is a large new build research and development project which will comprise 4 main buildings.
This is a full turnkey project involving the full fit out of each building to provide a scientific block with laboratories and clean rooms, teaching block, offices, plus an engineering block and workspace. Work is well underway on the first two blocks in terms of structure and envelope, with focus now turning to the internal fit out. Work will run on into late 2026.
This role would suit an effective and ambitious Senior Planner / Planning Manager with a proven track record of experience working for a Tier 1 main contractor, ideally larger projects with multiple work fronts and the NEC3 form of contract. Expertise relating to internal fit out and MEP installation would be highly advantageous.
The role will be working mainly site-based with the Project Team in construction phase. You will undertake regular progress checks, report on progress against programme, assist with variations / EWNs/CPs as required, undertake detailed planning of high risk activities, etc.
About the Company/Client/Project:
The role is with Southern Region of this leading Tier 1 main contracting group. The scope of works for this contractor includes predominantly defence, healthcare, scientific, and high spec residential ranging in value from £100m to £400m.
Geographical patch covers the Southern Region. This role will be based typically 3-4 days on site plus 1-2 days working from home.
Requirements including certificates and qualifications:
1. Ideally from an Engineering, Site Management/ operational background originally with a main contractor before moving into the Planning role.
2. Excellent communication skills, planning and problem-solving ability, technical knowledge, attention to detail, with a positive, 'get it right first time' approach.
3. Experience of and ability to use ASTA Powerproject proficiently is essential.
4. Ability to effectively produce fully logic linked programs for construction projects is essential.
5. Sound technical knowledge and experience of working with a large project main contractor construction team.
6. Extensive understanding of construction project management principles, methodologies, and best practices.
7. Extensive understanding of MEPH, systems, interfaces, installation, testing, and commissioning.
8. Expert in project scheduling and planning, including the ability to develop and manage complex project schedules using industry-standard tools.
9. Knowledge of Risk Management in project programmes: TRA, QSRA, etc.
10. Understanding of financial aspects related to project planning, including budgeting, cost estimation, Earned Value Management, and analysis to support effective decision-making.
