Reporting to the Chemistry Support Team Leader, you'll work closely with different teams to solve problems, drive innovation, and make sure our products meet the highest standards. Key Accountabilities & Duties:
* Carry out all activities in full compliance with H&SE legislation, within company policy and procedure.
* Responsible for reporting any unsafe acts or unsafe conditions observed (using the Near Miss System) in accordance with responsibilities under the Health and Safety at work Act.
* To carry out analysis of raw materials, intermediates, and final products to company and customer requirements ensuring that a legible, auditable trail is maintained throughout the process.
* To provide sound technical advice on the properties and characteristics of non-energetic and energetic substances, mixtures, and formulations (including HSE requirements, analytical methods and techniques, and interpretation of analysis results and trends).
* To develop incorporation requests and rolling schedules in line with production requirements.
* To deliver the assigned work packages to the aspects of customer (external and internal) requirements in accordance with Company governance procedures, and to budget, schedule, and required quality standards.
* To employ Company defined system engineering methodologies to projects.
* To ensure that knowledge and skills are kept abreast of relevant HSE and technical developments.
* Develop and validate energetic materials and formulations to meet specific programme safety and performance requirements.
* Develop and validate non-energetic materials used in energetic formulations and processes to meet specific programme safety and performance requirements.
* Provide validated data on energetic materials and formulations to enable safe and effective introduction of new products (including products transferred from third parties) into manufacturing operations.
* Provide validated data on energetic materials and formulations to define and resolve safety or technical concerns with current products.
* Develop, plan, and carry out specific non-energetic and energetic material development programmes to meet specific performance and cost targets within time milestones.
* To identify business opportunities through innovation of ideas.
* Provide technical input to bids and proposals including assessment of technical requirements, input to planned engineering hours and costs, and compilation of the technical risk register.

Qualifications/Experience:
* Degree: Chemical related discipline.
* MoD/NATO and other relevant technical standards relating to energetic materials and articles.
* Manufacture, storage, use, and disposal of hazardous substances.
* Laboratory and performance testing of materials and energetics.
* Analysis and interpretation of data and test results.
* Technical documentation preparation.
* Understanding of COSHH legislation.
* Knowledge of analytical techniques.
