About the Role:
As a Youth Worker/Cover Supervisor, you will play a key role in both pastoral care and classroom management. You will help support the emotional and social well-being of students while covering lessons in the absence of the regular teacher. This dual role is perfect for someone passionate about making a difference in young people’s lives while gaining hands-on experience in the classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
* Youth Worker Responsibilities:
o Provide pastoral support and mentoring to students, promoting their personal and emotional well-being.
o Develop strong relationships with students, helping them overcome challenges in school and their personal lives.
o Work alongside the school’s pastoral team to deliver targeted interventions for students at risk of disengagement.
o Support the development of extracurricular activities, including clubs, workshops, and after-school programs.
o Act as a positive role model for students, promoting positive behaviour, attendance, and engagement in school life.
* Cover Supervisor Responsibilities:
o Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of the class teacher, following pre-set lesson plans.
o Ensure students remain on task and manage classroom behaviour according to school policies.
o Provide assistance to students as needed and report any issues to teaching staff or senior management.
o Assist with the supervision of students during break and lunchtimes, contributing to the general supervision and order of the school.
o Support teachers with administrative tasks, such as preparing resources or marking work, when not covering lessons.
Essential Requirements:
* Previous experience working with young people in a school, youth work, or community setting.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
* Confidence in managing student behaviour and promoting a positive learning environment.
* Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to step into a variety of roles within the school.
* A passion for helping young people overcome challenges and achieve their potential.
Desirable:
* Experience working as a Cover Supervisor or in a classroom support role.
* Experience working with students with additional needs or from disadvantaged backgrounds.
* Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies.
* A relevant qualification in youth work, education, or social work.

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
* Expereince of working in the UK with young people
