About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Mill Operative in our Kerry Team in Gainsborough, Co. Lincolnshire.
It is a full-time, permanent position. You will be working on 8-hour shifts, rotating on days, evenings, and nights, Monday to Friday.
As a Mill Operative, you will play a crucial role in the continuous development of your production area, supporting the delivery of the site plan. You will work together with your team on various processes which include wheat cleaning, mill process, flour heat treatment, and mill hygiene.
Where will you work?
The Gainsborough site consists of 5 integrated plants, where we produce a variety of products, like flours, batters, and ingredients of meat-free food. Its history dates back to 1963, when the first Flour Milling Plant was established. It became part of the Kerry Family in 1997 and went through significant investments and improvements. The Gainsborough site is based close to Gainsborough Lea Road train station (13 minutes by walk) and has onsite parking and a canteen.
What will you do?
Responsibilities of the Mill Operative include:
1. Handle Raw Materials: Oversee the intake, transfer, and preparation of raw materials to ensure high-quality flour.
2. Maintain Quality and Efficiency: Ensure product quality, minimize waste, and keep the plant running efficiently.
3. Monitor Machinery: Regularly inspect and maintain mill machinery to prevent issues and ensure smooth operations.
4. Team Collaboration: Work with your team to deliver the production plan and maintain a safe, efficient work environment.
5. Record Keeping: Accurately record and maintain paperwork to support product traceability and quality.
6. Problem Solving: Address and solve non-engineering issues with machinery to minimize stoppages and improve efficiency.
7. Training and Flexibility: Receive training in various areas to increase skills and flexibility, covering different tasks as needed.
What do you need to be successful?
1. Good spoken and written English.
2. Good numeracy and interpretation of data skills.
3. Food safety certificate; health & safety qualification (desirable).
4. Previous SAP knowledge (desirable).
5. Experience of automated process lines.
6. Previous flour milling or food production experience (desirable).
7. NABIM qualifications (highly advantageous).
8. Basic IT skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Outlook.
9. Ability to work in a team and independently.
10. Open and eager to learn; training for Miller will be provided.
Position requires standing and walking for long periods, climbing stairs and ladders, working with tools, working within close-confined spaces, and working within extreme temperatures.
