The Role
The Medical/ independent prescriber is an important role within the service, providing some leadership, coordination, and delivery of the prescribing and clinical elements within this integrated substance use service.
You will be a registered doctor (Speciality Doctor/ independent prescriber) and will have experience in providing support to ensure that we are consistently offering a high quality, clinically excellent, recovery-focused service to people with problematic substance use.
The doctor in this role should be registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practice and in good standing. It is not essential for the doctor to have a membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrist for this role. The independent prescriber needs to be registered with their relevant regulatory (NMC or GPhC).
You will provide clinical support to the Via CWAC service staff, and clinical supervision to healthcare staff within the service. You will also provide clinical link and support to GPs and pharmacies involved in the provision of treatment services to people who use substances within CWAC.
You will be an active part of the local management team and contribute to the overall performance of the service to ensure that contractual output targets are achieved. This role is also supported by Via’s central clinical department, for example to receive clinical supervision.
The Service
Via CWAC is a fully integrated adult substance misuse service, providing clinical and psychosocial interventions across three treatment hubs located at Chester, Ellesmere Port and Northwich.
This service is an established Community Integrated service that is well performing and highly functioning. It is CQC registered to provide a range of clinical interventions including blood borne virus and other holistic health interventions, opioid substitute treatment, and community detoxification, alongside a comprehensive psychosocial, harm reduction and recovery focused model.
The team actively supports individuals that are directly and indirectly affected by substance use, working with the local community to improve the health, wellbeing and functioning of CWAC residents, irrespective of circumstance.
We have an exciting Medical/ Independent prescribing role for a suitably experienced prescriber to help us to provide specialist, tailored support, for some of the most vulnerable people within our community. This role will allow you to play a key role in developing the specialist substance use clinical treatment offer in CWAC and become an integral part of the local team.
Location
The successful candidate will work primarily from Northwich, however occasional travel to external meetings and to other Via locations may be required.
