Technip Energies UK Operating Centre (UKOC) is a unique engineering contractor, combining the global strength of Technip Energies with a strong local presence in the UK market. Job Purpose:
A Senior Piping and Plant Layout Design Engineer is needed for energy transition, olefins, refinery, and petrochemical projects in domestic and international markets on a contractual basis. The role requires significant experience in piping and plant layout design for oil and gas projects, working independently or with a team. The engineer will execute scopes of work through Pre-FEED, FEED, and EPC projects and may travel globally. The position is based in Milton Keynes and/or London.
Main Accountabilities:
1. Developing plot plans, equipment layouts, and pipe routing drawings and models.
2. Developing and delivering plant layout drawings from initial concept through to detailed design.
3. Adhering to and supporting development of discipline, project specifications, corporate specifications, and standards relating to piping and plant layout.
4. Developing project deliverables and activities in accordance with relevant codes and standards applicable to the project (e.g., ASME, BS, API, etc.).
5. Providing technical piping and layout expertise and recommendations to all associated parties on a project.
6. Explaining layout concepts to internal and external parties in a clear and articulate manner.
7. Communicating in a clear and documented approach with all other disciplines (Structural, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Instruments, and Process) to ensure information is provided and shared.
8. Producing discipline deliverables using approved software and tools.
9. Adhering to discipline and corporate procedures, policies, and standards and providing feedback for continuous improvement.
10. Supporting the execution of works in multi-office work share environments.
11. Carrying out site surveys and establishing plant layout and pipe routing on brownfield and greenfield projects.
12. Identifying and supporting the lead engineer in managing change.
13. Developing deliverables with technical accuracy and quality.
14. Supporting project meetings and technical reviews.
15. Providing discipline input to project proposals.
16. Checking and reviewing vendor documentation and drawings.
17. Being available to travel in the UK for meetings, site visits, and inspections to meet project requirements.
Typical background and experience required
Must Have:
1. Extensive experience in onshore piping and plant layout design for petrochemical plants.
2. Demonstrable previous Pre-FEED, FEED, and EPC experience.
3. Experience in the principles of plant layout and piping design including layout of pipework, layout of areas for mechanical equipment, and knowledge of operational access & maintenance requirements for different equipment.
4. Knowledge of safety, environmental, and commercial aspects of piping and equipment layout.
5. Proficient in developing piping and plant layout designs from concept to detailed design.
6. Knowledge of pipe stress and supporting requirements to develop early layouts prior to detailed stress analysis.
7. Experience following piping European, American, and International standards applicable to the petrochemical industry.
8. Proficient in using 2D CAD software – Autocad and/or Microstation and production of 2D layout drawings.
9. Proficient in use of 3D CAD software and 3D model development using E3D and S3D.
10. Strong communication skills including being tactful and articulate.
11. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
12. Experience of explaining layout concepts during layout reviews and 3D model reviews.
13. Experience in participation of constructability reviews and P&ID reviews.
14. Experience of working in multi-office workshare projects.
15. Self-motivated to move projects forward.
16. Experienced in Microsoft Office applications.
