Introduction:
A Direct Payments client in Pembrokeshire is looking to employ a Personal Assistant to support them with their care needs. The employer is female and at risk of falling and unable to stand for long periods due to a past accident. They will require support for both personal care and socialisation.
This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme, which aims to enable the client to manage their support and meet their care needs independently. The successful applicant should be friendly and supportive and be able to work flexibly to meet the care needs of the client. They should be able to support the client to make their own decisions around their care needs and encourage them to maintain their independence.
The main duties to be included within this role are to:
• Supervise the personal needs of the employer, such as washing, toileting and dressing.
• Ensure a structured set of activities are maintained.
• Develop a reliable and trusting relationship with the person.
• Support the employer to prepare their workspace, and help tidy equipment away.
• Support and encourage the employer with some basic administration and maintain self-organisational skills.
• Providing support to the employer whilst shopping, and attending activities of interest.
• Help the employer prepare meals, and develop and maintain a healthy eating plan.
• To provide companionship in the employer’s home, including engaging in conversation with the employer and providing them with social interaction.
• Encouraging the employer to attend appointments.
• Ensuring the employer’s safety at all times during your working hours.
• To carry out any other reasonable tasks that may be requested by the employer during your working hours.
• Be mindful of safeguarding issues, and feedback any concerns to the relevant authority.
• Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance.

Other Requirements:
A full, clean driving licence and use of a car is required.
You must have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours.
