Job Title: SEMH 1:1 Teaching Assistant Location: Middleton, Greater Manchester Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent Salary: Competitive, Dependent on Experience Start Date: ASAP Teach Match Education Recruitment is looking for an experienced and dedicated SEMH 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a student with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs at a well-regarded local school in Middleton. This is an exciting opportunity to make a tangible difference in the life of a student who requires dedicated support to thrive both academically and emotionally. Key Responsibilities: Provide one-to-one support to a student with SEMH needs, ensuring they are fully supported throughout the school day. Implement and follow behaviour management strategies, ensuring a safe and positive environment for the student to learn and grow. Offer emotional support and guidance to the student, helping them develop self-regulation, resilience, and coping mechanisms. Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to deliver tailored learning plans and adapt resources for the student's needs. Assist with the student's academic progress, ensuring they stay on track with the curriculum while offering additional support where necessary. Maintain accurate records of the student's progress and challenges, reporting back to the SENCO and parents as required. Actively promote inclusion, ensuring the student engages positively with peers and feels supported within the school community. Respond flexibly to the student's changing needs, adapting your approach and methods to ensure consistency and success. The ideal candidate will possess: Experience working with students with SEMH needs or in a similar support role (1:1, classroom assistant, or behaviour support). A solid understanding of behaviour management techniques and how to implement them effectively. Strong communication skills, with the ability to build a positive, trusting relationship with the student, staff, and parents. Patience, empathy, and the resilience to support students through challenging situations. A proactive and solution-focused mindset, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent) or experience in special education needs support. Why Join Teach Match Education?
