Our Electronics workforce of over 4,000 specialists is spread across five main UK sites: Bristol, Southampton, Luton, Basildon, Newcastle, and Edinburgh.
We are currently hiring Hardware Engineers of all levels of expertise.
What You’ll Do As a Hardware Engineer
1. Support the full hardware lifecycle from requirements analysis, design, and unit testing to integrating hardware with the target system, acceptance testing, and delivery to the customer.
2. Document and record work products, keep them under configuration management, and provide plans and progress reports.
3. Design high-speed digital Printed Circuit Boards utilizing the latest FPGA, Microprocessor, and high-speed interconnect technologies.
4. Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team of engineers to solve real integration problems on complex systems.
5. Be an experienced specialist in your field, capable of generating ideas, concept designs, and products using best practices.
6. Willing to teach others and enhance your own knowledge.
You really must have
* An HNC/HND or Undergraduate Degree in Electronic Engineering, Physics, Systems, or equivalent experience gained through work.
* Familiarity with circuit design, schematic capture, layout, and simulation tools.
* Knowledge of mixed signals, ADC/DAC, FPGA, SoC design for high-performance signal processing, communications, and control.
* Experience integrating in-house designs with COTS modules such as power supplies, single-board computers, RF interfaces.
* Practical experience in debugging, testing, and verifying new designs.
* Design for EMC and EMI (DFx).
* Ability to analyze system-level requirements and apply them to hardware designs.
* Design experience with high-speed serial communication links and related protocols.
* Hands-on experience with hardware, firmware, and software integration of microprocessor-based designs.
* A structured, methodical approach to the full hardware design lifecycle.
* Effective communication skills across disciplines, both verbal and written.
It would be good if you had some of the following
* Experience in low-noise analogue electronics and/or power supplies.
* Experience with fast interfaces like PCIe, Ethernet, JESD204B.
* Knowledge of model-driven engineering using MATLAB and Simulink.
* Experience with FPGAs, microprocessors, memory, and high-speed digital technologies, with a desire to grow further in these domains.
