Administration and Legal Services, Finance and Corporate Resources seeks to recruit a self-motivated individual, with extensive experience of clerking formal committees, preferably in a local government or similar environment. You will have a professional approach, with strong organisational skills and a sound knowledge of the law and practice relating to council decision-making processes.
You will undertake a wide range of duties in accordance with statutory and predetermined procedures, often working with sensitive information and adhering to tight deadlines and agreed performance targets. You will be involved in dealing with, and providing advice to, elected members, senior officers, both internal and external, as well as other stakeholders, therefore, it is essential that you possess excellent communication skills and a commitment to the principles of customer care.
Given the level of responsibility attached to this post, you will be required to work using your own initiative, exercising confidentiality and discretion at all times and have the ability to respond effectively to changing priorities.
Ideally, you should have experience in all aspects of clerking formal committees/boards and knowledge of associated governance arrangements. You must be able to demonstrate excellent written, oral and IT skills as you will also be required to clerk and facilitate hybrid meetings which are livestreamed and available for the public to view.
You will be based within Council Offices, Almada Street, Hamilton, with limited capacity for home working.
