Day Rate: up to £450 (outside IR35)
Overview of Role:
Capstone have partnered with a leading, International real estate consultancy who are currently recruiting a Senior Project Manager with extensive, demonstrable consultancy side experience delivering projects for higher education institutions in the UK. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing these projects from inception to completion, supporting our clients with every aspect of the project life cycle, ensuring delivery to agreed time, cost, and quality parameters.
This role provides an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual to demonstrate their project management skills while working on a wide range of smaller, varied projects, such as refurbishments and fit-outs.
Key Responsibilities:
* End-to-End Project Management: Manage multiple projects across various stages, ensuring completion within set time, cost, and quality constraints.
* Client Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met and expectations managed throughout the project.
* Risk, Cost, and Quality Management: Monitor and manage risks, budgets, and quality across all projects, ensuring adherence to program constraints.
* Contract Management: Administer contracts using the JCT suite of contracts and act as the Employer's Agent
* Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, such as maintenance teams, FM departments, and operations teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
* Procurement: Support the procurement of consultants, contractors, and materials in line with client and project requirements.
* Site Management: Regularly attend project sites (minimum three days per week) to oversee progress, address issues, and ensure projects are delivered in a safe, compliant manner.
* Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all projects meet required Health & Safety standards, including holding regular site inspections and ensuring contractor compliance.
* Reporting: Provide regular progress updates, cost reports, and risk assessments to clients and internal management teams.
* Team Collaboration: Work closely with the broader project management team, providing guidance to junior project managers and contributing to best practices.
Person Specification:
Qualifications:
Essential:
* Degree in Construction, Engineering, or a related field.
* 5+ years of experience in delivering construction/real estate projects
* Working towards, or possessing, chartership (MCIOB, MRICS, MAPM, or ChPP).
* Health & Safety qualifications, including holding a current CSCS card.
Technical Skills:
Essential:
* Demonstrable experience in managing small projects/minor works from initiation to completion.
* Familiarity with the JCT contract suite and experience acting as the Employer's Agent.
* Strong understanding of FM-related projects, including refurbishment, fit-out, and building maintenance.
* Excellent knowledge of construction-related Health & Safety legislation.
* Strong commercial acumen, able to manage budgets and assess financial risks effectively.
* Well-versed in RIBA stages and documentation required for each stage.
Desirable:
* Experience using project management software like Asta PowerProject.
* Experience managing projects within the education sector.
