This position can be worked out of any of our UK offices. It will require the ability to travel in line with business needs. Our Rail teams are currently located in London, Birmingham, Southampton, Frome, and Leeds.

You will join our UK Rail Systems department
As our new Permanent Way Lead, you will drive the growth and delivery of our Permanent Way projects to meet our client’s challenges whilst ensuring technical excellence and operational performance.
We are seeking an individual that can lead the growth of this discipline in the UK for Ramboll. You will initially seek to grow our UK PWay portfolio by drawing on these global resources together with our strategic supply chain. As we embed our delivery in this space, you will be supported to grow a UK-based team to serve our client’s needs.
Your key tasks and responsibilities will be:
1. Lead the development of the UK-based PWay team, drawing on global resources as required.
2. Carry out the duties of PWay Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE) or Project Engineer (PE) as required.
3. Ensure internal and contractor’s design/construction/specialists’ personnel have the correct competencies.
4. Manage all PWay engineering activities on allocated projects to ensure they are affordable and meet programme requirements safely and responsibly.
5. Manage the design and/or construction elements of allocated projects ensuring compliance with current legislation, including construction design management (CDM) and CSM-RA regulations.
6. Provide advice on construction activities, including testing and commissioning and site supervision.
7. Assist the Head of Rail Systems UK in developing a culture of technical excellence by driving a right first-time approach.
8. Assist in the preparation of Tenders and proposals.
9. Undertake the checking, review, and approval of design in accordance with the Design Delivery programme.
Key Deliverables for the first 12 months:
1. Identify and secure work package pipeline.
2. Develop the UK PWay team to meet the demands of the pipeline.

1. Degree/HNC with strong, demonstrable experience.
2. An understanding of the arrangements required for the independent assessment of work.
3. CDM, CSM-RA, risk assessment, engineering management competency.
4. Experience in people management.
5. A working knowledge of RSSB Group, Network Rail, and other client Standards.
6. Specific experience of project development for PWay, NR approval processes, and deliverables criteria for PWay projects.
7. Current or past CRE status or proven evidence of being appointed to act as CRE/Network Rail Project Engineer for a period of time.
8. Ideally, membership of (or working towards) the Permanent Way Institution.
