About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead our mechanical design activities, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and provide hands-on expertise in manufacturing and CNC machining.
This role involves:
* Mechanical Design & Development: Lead detailed mechanical design activities using SolidWorks, including drafting, modelling, and simulation.
* Manufacturability & Assembly: Provide hands-on expertise in manufacturing and assembly.
* Product Lifecycle Management (PLM): Implement and manage PLM systems to track design changes and revisions.
* Environmental Testing: Collaborate on environmental testing protocols and analyse results.
* Electronics Enclosures: Design and optimise enclosures for electronics considering space environment constraints.
* Team Leadership: Mentor junior engineers and promote a collaborative team culture.
* Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with biotechnology experts and space engineers to ensure project success.
Requirements
* Experience: 3–5+ years in mechanical engineering roles, preferably within the space or defence industries.
* Technical Proficiency: Advanced user of SolidWorks, GD&T, and drafting standards, hands-on experience with CNC machining and material selection.
* Environmental testing experience and analytical skills.

The estimated salary for this role is $130,000 - $190,000 per annum, depending on experience.
