Rate of Pay: £16.25 - £20.44 per hour
Summary:
As a Residential Child Care Worker - Level Two, you will play a vital role in providing a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for children and young people who are looked after by Derby City Council. You will contribute to their emotional, social, and physical development, ensuring their well-being and promoting positive outcomes. You will support care planning, participate in the day-to-day running of the home, and be a consistent adult presence in the lives of young people who have experienced trauma, neglect, or abuse.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide high-quality care and support to children and young people in a residential setting in line with individual care plans.
2. Build trusting, professional relationships with children, encouraging their development, independence, and self-esteem.
3. Promote the safety, health, and welfare of children and young people at all times, adhering to safeguarding procedures and regulations.
4. Support and manage challenging behaviours using de-escalation and restorative approaches, in line with training and care plans.
5. Assist in planning and participating in recreational, educational, and social activities.
Qualifications:
1. Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) or willingness to achieve this within 2 years of appointment.
2. GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
Experience:
1. Minimum of 1 year experience working with children and young people in a care, support, or education setting.
2. Experience of managing challenging behaviour and working under pressure.
3. Understanding of safeguarding procedures and the needs of looked-after children.
