Job Description
As a Water Operative, you'll be on the front lines of making sure Scotland's water is totally, dependably pure.
What you'll do
1. Join an experienced team that monitors and maintains the quality of water at our treatment works and raw water reservoirs.
2. Calibrate monitors, optimise mechanical and chemical processes, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
3. Record water quality metrics, sorting the 'exceptional' from the 'needs attention' across measures including pH, chlorine, aluminium, and phosphate.
4. Conduct regular inspections of plants, reservoirs, and dams.
5. Handle risk assessments and monitor health and safety protocols.
6. Participate in the standby rota for out-of-hours cover.
What you'll bring
1. Strong communication skills and confidence working independently.
2. Comfort with new computer systems.
3. Attention to detail to avoid inaccurate recordings or health and safety failures.
4. A knack for spotting trends and problem-solving, both independently and collaboratively.
5. A valid driving licence (a van will be provided).
Nice-to-haves:
1. Knowledge of water treatment processes and distribution systems.
2. Mechanical maintenance experience.
