Job summary
Therapies and Rehabilitation are seeking an innovative and creative AHP or Registered Nurse for a Clinical Lead post in Amputee Rehabilitation.
This exciting role will offer clinical and strategic leadership to AHPs supporting this clinical area, across Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Prosthetics and Nursing.
The Clinical Lead post supports existing AHP services to amputee rehabilitation, which includes primarily out-patient services at the Nottingham Mobility Centre, and newly opened Children's Annexe, as well as outreaching to in-patient areas to support other clinical staff, providing advice regarding care of amputees.
We are looking for a senior clinician who can offer advanced-level clinical skills and senior decision-making, quality improvement and service development support, reflecting national best-practice guidelines and local innovation. The post will act as a strategic link between the Therapies and Rehabilitation Directorate and Specialty Management Teams within Rehabilitation Medicine.
The post-holder must be able to offer strong, visible and accessible clinical leadership. They will contribute to teaching and training within the wider team, and will ensure services are developed in line with NUH's vision, values and behaviours.
Main duties of the job
This role will provide strategic clinical leadership in the management of patients under the care of NUH across Amputee Rehabilitation, and will contribute to direct patient care in the postholder's clinical profession. Core responsibilities are spread over the four pillars of AHP practice: leadership; clinical practice; facilitated learning; evidence, research and development.
Additionally, the post-holder will be required to lead on AHP or Nurse Led clinics for the assessment and treatment of "simple amputees" (i.e. those who have suffered a transtibial or transfemoral amputation). This will require highly specialist clinical decision making skills, as well as ordering (e.g. blood tests, x-rays) and prescriptions following an agreed formulary.
Please refer to job description and person specification for full details of the job.
As a key leadership role, it is critical that NUH values and behaviours are embedded in everyday practice.
