Job Purpose/Overview
Lead the technical delivery and co-ordinate the technical resources for work packages in support of Critical National Infrastructure projects and programmes in the Air Traffic Management domain. Encompassing a range of technologies including software applications and hardware infrastructure used for flight planning, communication, surveillance, navigation and weather information dissemination.
Other Duties Include
1. Apply systems engineering principles to define, plan and deliver the scope of activities within one or multiple work packages of a project, to achieve the required outcomes.
2. Responsible for the technical delivery of work packages, ensuring compliance with the technical governance framework through proportionate tailoring of business policies and processes to meet all stakeholder requirements.
3. Responsible for the time, cost and quality of technical deliverables.
4. Technical point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including 3rd party suppliers.
5. Provide task management and direction to a team of engineers and subject matter experts.
6. Proactively identify, manage and resolve work package interdependencies, risks and opportunities.
7. Accountable to the senior engineering lead for the technical delivery of the work packages.
8. Work with the project managers to ensure that technical plans are credible and aligned to the overall delivery timescale.
9. Engage with resource managers to secure, and ensure early deconfliction of, the resources required to deliver the scope of work.
10. Follows best practice within the NATS' safety and service principles, adhering to our values.
Essential Skills and Experience
1. HNC (equivalent RQF level 4 or SCQF level 7 qualification) in an Engineering or Technology discipline and have experience of managing the technical delivery of projects, or complex work packages, following industry best practice techniques (preferably in a safety-related sector).
2. As an alternative to the required qualification, the job holder may have completed structured engineering or technology training equivalent to the required qualification and have extensive experience in the field above.
3. Ability to provide technical and team leadership to multidisciplinary teams located across multiple sites.
4. Enthusiastic, flexible and a responsive person with the ability to plan, organise and make key decisions with suitable supervision.
5. Can communicate and build positive relationships with internal and external technical and non-technical stakeholders.
6. Able to work under pressure without impacting quality of outcomes.
7. Proven record and identifying and delivering pragmatic solutions to challenging problems whilst meeting time, cost and quality objectives.
