£90,000+ depending on skills and experience, plus executive level benefits including car allowance and bonus
What you’ll be doing:
Lead project accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial planning, reporting, and analysis to support business performance
Drive modernisation initiatives, fostering a data-driven culture and implementing process improvements aligned with strategic goals
Oversee financial controls, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and maintaining a culture of accountability across the team
Collaborate with senior stakeholders to influence decision-making and align financial strategies with business objectives
Provide bid support by coordinating financial inputs and planning for upcoming opportunities
Inspire and develop a high-performing team, promoting continuous improvement and professional growth

Your skills and experiences:
Qualified accountant with a minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience in project accounting or financial planning
Proven leadership experience managing sizable teams, with the ability to inspire and motivate others
Strong expertise in financial analysis, forecasting, and long-term contract management
Excellent stakeholder management and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels
Experience driving process improvements and implementing digital solutions, preferably with tools like SAP BPC
Familiarity with regulatory standards (GAAP/IFRS) and governance principles across industry sectors

The Project Accounting team:
The Head of Project Accounting is a pivotal leadership role within the Submarines Business Unit, responsible for managing a team of approximately 40 members to deliver exceptional financial planning, analysis, and insights for projects generating £2.9 billion in annual revenue. This role combines strategic vision and hands-on leadership to modernise finance practices, implement innovative solutions, and ensure the delivery of robust project accounting services across the organisation. The successful candidate will collaborate with senior stakeholders, champion efficiency, and drive transformational change to enhance the company’s financial performance and capabilities. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
